President Barack Obama will meet in Mexico next month with Mexican President Enrique Pena Nieto and Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper.

White House spokesman Jay Carney said yesterday that the meeting is set for February 19 in Toluca, about an hour outside of Mexico City. Carney said Obama looks forward to a discussion of issues important to all North Americans, including economic competitiveness, trade and investment, entrepreneurship and security.

The meeting will be the first so-called North American Leaders Summit to include Pena Nieto. He was sworn into office in December 2012.

The White House says Obama spoke with Pena Nieto by telephone yesterday and they discussed progress on the US-Mexico agenda they set when they met during Obama's visit to Mexico last May. The White House says Obama congratulated Pena Nieto on reforms he has undertaken in his first year in office.

The most recent three-leader summit was held in Washington in April 2012 among Obama, Harper and then-Mexican President Felipe Calderon.
