Odisha to give land to states to build guest houses in Puri

Press Trust of India Bhubaneswar
In a bid to attract more domestic tourists to the state, the Odisha government has decided to provide land and other infrastructure to other state governments to build their own guest houses at the holy town of Puri, officials said today.

The states will get plots on a 34-acre patch of land and other facilities under the 'Jagannath Project'.

The decision in this regard was taken at a meeting presided over by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik yesterday.

During his last visit to the state, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav had made a request to Patnaik in this regard, officials said.

"Different state governments interested to set up guest houses will be provided with land under the Jagannath project. People coming to Puri from these states can stay there," CMD of Odisha Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation (IDCO), Sanjay Singh, said.

Parks, market complex, walking tracks and solar-powered street lights would also come up under the project, he said.
