Omar reviews security scenario ahead of Modi's visit

A day ahead of Narendra Modi's maiden visit to Jammu and Kashmir as Prime Minister, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today reviewed the security arrangements put in place for the occasion.

Omar took stock of the security arrangements put in place for the Prime Minister's visit to the state on Friday, an official spokesman said here.

The Chief Minister was briefed in this regard at a high level meeting in which Director General Police and senior officers of various departments and security agencies participated, he said.

A tight security cover was thrown over Jammu and Kashmir today ahead of Modi's one-day visit tomorrow during which he will inaugurate a rail link from the newly built Katra Railway station to Udhampur.
 

He will later fly to Srinagar where he will address a 'Sainik Sammelan' and inaugurate the second phase of 240 MW Hydel project in Uri.
