One killed, 8 injured in shanty collapse in Doda

One person was killed and 8 others injured when a shanty collapsed in the upper reaches of Bhaderwah in Doda district of Jammu division, a police official said today.

The shanty, locally known as dhok, collapsed in Fulkan Dhar area of Bhaderwah late last night when the family were sleeping, the Station House Officer (SHO) Bhaderwah, Bhupinder Singh, told PTI over phone.

Hearing the commotion, the locals in other hutments retrieved the dead and other injured from the debris and rushed them to Sub-district hospital at Bhaderwah, he said, adding that the deceased has been identified as Sajjad Ahmed.

Police teams later rushed to the site and the hospital for conducting investigation, he said.
