Pakistan army chief General Raheel Sharif today chaired a Corps Commanders' meeting to review internal and external security situation in the country amid the ongoing military operation against Taliban in North Waziristan and anti-government protests.
The meeting was held at General Headquarters Rawalpindi.
Army said in a statement that matters of professional interest were discussed during the meeting.
"A detailed briefing was given to the participants on internal and external security situation of the country," it said.
They also reviewed Operation Zarb-e-Azb in the North Waziristan tribal region.
General Sharif expressed his complete satisfaction on the progress of the operation, which was launched on June 15 to eliminate foreign and local terrorists.
The meeting is regular monthly feature and provides an occasion to the powerful military to review the internal and external security issues.
Pakistan is currently going through a phase of political uncertainty as opposition leader Imran Khan and fiery cleric Tahirul Qadri have been staging protests against Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, demanding his ouster over alleged vote rigging in the last year's election.
Though the enthusiasm for the protests has worn thin, the protest leaders are sticking to their demand.
