Eight horses from Pakistan en route to Sri Lanka had an unexpected stay-over at the race course here after the transport plane carrying them made an emergency landing at Pune airport on Thursday following a technical snag, police said today.

The Sri Lankan defence aircraft which took off from Islamabad for Colombo with the horses, gifted to Sri Lanka by Pakistan as part of friendly exchange, left Pune airport yesterday (Friday), following repairs, for its destination after the brief stop.

During their stay, the eight horses along with their Pakistani handlers were put up at Pune race course near Wanowri area, airport police official V Darekar said.
