Foreign Office spokesman Moazzam Khan said Pakistan condemned the attacks in Kabul "in the strongest terms".

"Pakistan and Afghanistan face the common threat of terrorism. We are committed to work closely with Afghanistan to eliminate this scourge," he said in a statement.

Pakistan has maintained that it will not allow anybody to use its territory against any country, and that promoting peace and stability in Afghanistan is "a cornerstone of its foreign policy", Khan said.

Suicide bombers attacked a compound housing Westerners in Kabul hours after Obama signed a security pact during a short visit to Afghanistan.

The Taliban claimed responsibility for the attack which involved a car bomb and insurgents disguised as women and killed seven people. PTI RHL
