Panic gripped passengers of the Nanded-bound Sachkhand Express today after some firecrackers exploded inside one of its compartment and filled it with smoke, Government Railway Police said.
The incident occurred when the train was approaching the Ambala Cantonment Railway Station. Passengers brought the train to a halt by pulling the chain, senior GRP official Kamaldeep Goel said.
"A passenger was carrying firecrackers in the compartment. It was kept in a bag under his seat and suddenly exploded. The smoke spread through the compartment causing panic," he said, adding a woman passenger fell unconscious after the incident.
