Music icon Paul McCartney is writing a musical adaption of Frank Capra's popular 1946 feature film "It's a Wonderful Life".
The Beatles star said he will write the music and lyrics for an upcoming stage adaptation, reported Entertainment Weekly.
McCartney,77, has joined hands with Bill Kenwright to produce the show, after well-known West End theater and film producer approached him to work on the musical.
He has also collaborated on lyrics with Tony-winning English writer Lee Hall, who is drafting the musical's book version.
"Like many of these things this all started with an email. Bill had asked if it was something I might be up for. Writing a musical is not something that had ever really appealed to me but Bill and I met up with Lee Hall and had a chat and I found myself thinking this could be interesting and fun. 'It's a Wonderful Life' is a universal story we can all relate to," McCartney said in a statement.
The production will debut sometime in 2020.
