Former Rajasthan chief minister Ashok Gehlot today claimed that the people were set to teach a lesson to the BJP in the next general elections for its "false promises".

Gehlot, who was here to attend the funeral of his aide, told reporters that the countdown had begun and the saffron party would not make a comeback in 2019 elections.

He claimed that there was strong resentment among the people against the BJP government in the state for alleged misrule and in the country for its "false promises". The Congress leader said it was seen in the recent bypolls where the party lost 10 assembly seats in different states.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has miserably failed to fulfil his promises of corruption, black money, employment and better prices to farmers," he said.

He said there was a feeling of resentment among farmers, youths, students and Dalits and even the business community was feeling cheated.

He said people of the country were all set to teach a lesson to the BJP in the 2019 elections for the alleged false promises made by it, he said.

He also called upon youths to join the Congress to keep the country united and fight the atmosphere of intolerance, violence and hatred.
