Pepper slips on low demand

Black pepper slipped in an otherwise listless spices market here today on lower demand from stockists and retailers amid subdued export offtake.

Rest all other spices including ginger and copra ruled stable in the absence of any major buying.

Black pepper fell by Rs 25 per kg to Rs 700/775 from Tuesday's closing level of Rs 725/800.

Following are today's closing rates (in Rs with previous rates in brackets):

Black pepper (per kg) 700/775 (725/800), Ginger bleached (per kg) 140 (140), Ginger unbleached (per kg) 160 (160), Copra office Alappuzha (per quintal) 6,500 (6,500), Copra office Kozhikode (per quintal) 6,400 (6,400), Copra Rajapur Mumbai (per quintal) 10,200 (10,200), Copra edible Mumbai (per quintal) 7,900 (7,900).
