A poacher was arrested and a horn of an antelope was seized from him inside Similipal sanctuary area in Mayurbhanj district, officials said today.
Following a tip off, forest personnel conducted a raid in the sanctuary area and the poacher was nabbed near Besarapani under Dukura range on Wednesday night for killing an antelope, Dukura range officer Bata Krushna Padhi said.
While the poacher, identified as Sanjay Naik (20) of Besarpani was caught, some other poachers gave the raiding forest personnel a slip, he said.
A country made gun along with the horn of the slain antelope was recovered from him, Padhi said.
