Police detain 8 VHP workers protesting demolition of temple

Surat police today detained eight Vishwa Hindu Parishad workers who were protesting demolition of an old temple on the new Civil Hospital campus in Khatodara area here, police said.
"The police detained the VHP workers as they created a law-and-order situation. The VHP workers were demanding construction of a new temple," said inspector G R Patel.
The workers staged a sit-in to protest demolition of temple by the hospital authorities. They also tried to set up an idol of lord Hanuman in the place of old temple, he added.
