Police team raiding UP village for illegal arms attacked, 6 injured

Six officials were injured when a group of locals attacked a police team which went to a village in Uttar Pradesh's Ballia district to recover illegal arms, police said Thursday.

The incident happened Wednesday when a Special Operations Group of the UP Police went to Dadar village to find illegal arms.

The frenzied locals threw stones at the officials, indulged in arson and attacked them, leaving six injured. Team leader Vineet Rai was also injured in the violence, police said.

A case has been registered against six persons and seven unnamed ones in Sikanderpur police station.

Police said they have arrested three of the accused.
