Police to beef up security in Belagavi for legislature session

Six thousand security personnel, including Police and Home guards, will be deployed at various places in Belgaum taluk during winter session of state legislature beginning on December 9, a top police official said.

Inspector General Of Police Bhaskarrao said over 54 outfits will be staging protests during the 10-day session and in such scenario the responsibility lay with Police to maintain law and order.

Apart from maintaining law and order, security of VVIP's, legislators and ministers and to control traffic in the city the services of police personnel becomes essential in such large numbers, he told PTI.

Police staff from other districts will be part of this arrangement, he said, adding, adequate care had been taken for smooth functioning of the winter session to be held till December 20.
 

Separate arrangement is made for protesters about 1.5 k.M.Away from Suvarna Vidhana Soudha to prevent any unlawful incidents, he said.
