The Central government has selected Vice-Chancellor of Pondicherry University Chandra Krishnamurthy for the honorary title of 'Colonel' in the National Cadet Corps (NCC) for the duration of her office.
This was the second time that she is being conferred the title of Colonel as she had earlier received the title during her tenure as Vice Chancellor of the Shreemathi Nathibai Damodar Thackersey (SNDT) Women's University Mumbai, a release from the Assistant Registrar of the Pondicherry University K.Mahesh said today.
She would be presented the award soon.
The University had received a communication from Lt General A.Chakravarthy VSM Director General of NCC informing the decision of the Centre to confer the honorary title on Chandra Krishnamoorthy.
