Zinc prices traded marginally higher by 0.28 per cent to Rs 214.65 per kg in futures trade today as participants built up fresh positions, taking positive cues from the domestic spot market on improved demand.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, zinc for delivery in May edged up by 60 paise, or 0.28 per cent, to Rs 214.65 per kg in business turnover of 109 lots.

Likewise, the metal for delivery in April contracts was up by 55 paise, or 0.26 per cent, to Rs 213.65 per kg in 642 lots.

Analysts said, fresh positions created by traders after an upsurge in demand from consuming industries in the physical market, drove the upside in zinc futures.
