A man who was declared a proclaimed offender in a case of attempt to murder was arrested by the Delhi Police from Haryana, a senior officer said on Tuesday.

Rahul was nabbed on Sunday from near Bega road in Sonepat where he had come to meet one of his contacts, police said.

In December last year, he had attempted to eliminate one Dushyant, currently in judicial custody, for allegedly killing his cousin Vikas Chauhan but had failed, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Special Cell) Manishi Chandra said.

Following the incident, he had gone underground but was planning to attack Dushyant again before being arrested, Chandra added.

A resident of Bajitpur Thakran village here, Rahul was wanted by the Delhi and Haryana police for his involvement in six criminal cases-- four of which were registered at the Bawana Police Station in the national capital.

In May, his 58-year-old father allegedly committed suicide by jumping from the third floor of the Bawana Police Station after being quizzed by the police about his whereabouts.

A magisterial probe in the matter is underway, the officer said.
