Mohan Lal Jharta was sworn-in as the new Chairman of the Himachal Pradesh Staff Selection Commission, Hamirpur, today.
Chief Secretary V C Pharka administered him the oath of office here today.
The post of chairman fell vacant following expiry of term of Jog Raj Thakur, early this month.
Jharta, Professor and Chairman and Head of Department of Sociology and Social Works in HP University, hails from Chopal area of Shimla district, and has earlier served as Registrar of HPU for a period of about two years.
He had been member of various academic bodies of the HPU and other neighbouring University.
