Hundreds of protesters blocked the Suri-Rampurhat road here and set ablaze tyres leading to traffic disruption over alleged molestation of a girl on Tuesday.
The girl was playing with a friend in the courtyard of her neighbour when a man allegedly molested her on December 31.
The protesters, including TMC councillor of Suri municipality, Paban Mahara, handed over a petition to the ADM [General], Birbhum D P Karnam.
"I have received a mass petition. Their immediate demand is the arrest of the accused. We have forwarded the petition to the police to take proper action. The medical report of the girl has been submitted to police," ADM said.
Yesterday he had said that a complaint of molestation was lodged with the Suri police station by the girl's family.
