People from various parts of the country today gathered here to protest against the alleged privatisation, commercialisation and communalisation of education.
A large number of people took part in a rally organised here today, by the All India Forum For Right To Education (AIFFRTE) and marched from Bhopal Talkies to Yadgar- e-Shahjahani Park.
Protesters held placards against costly education, chanted slogans like "Down with privatisation, commercialisation and communalisation of education," as part of a rally called 'Akhil Bharat Siksha Sangharsh Yatra 2014'.

Forty-five organisations under the banner of AIFFRTE took part in the rally to press for a common education system.
AIFFRTE leader and senior educationist Anil Sadgopal said that people were concerned about the neo-liberalisation and communalisation of education since more than two decades.
He said education should promote equality and freedom from all kinds of discrimination.
Sadgopal said that the education system should be fully state-funded from KinderGarten (KG) to Post-Graduate (PG) level.
