The protests by Sikh activists against alleged sacrilege of their holy book Sri Guru Granth Sahib, at Attari road here today led to delay in departure of Lahore-Delhi and Nankana Sahib to Amritsar bus.
Both the buses after crossing over to India were supposed to continue their journey in the afternoon followed by Customs and Immigration check but remained stuck at the Attari border till 4 PM because of ongoing protest in the state, officials said here.
Amid tight police security, the buses could restart their journey at 4 PM after the protesters lifted the blockades on the road.

Earlier, the Delhi to Lahore bus also reached at Attari border in the evening due to blockades at different locations on the roads in Punjab could only cross over to Pakistan late in the evening.
However, the Amritsar to Lahore bus crossed over to Pakistan in the morning before the protests took place.
