Protests erupt after youths assault minor girl

Protests erupted in Jalalabad town of the district here after a minor girl was allegedly teased and assaulted by two youths of a community.

Police said that one of the accused has been arrested and PAC was deployed in area.

The youths teased the girl, and later, when they failed to molest her they tore her cloths, police said.

Agitated over the incident, members of a community assembled at Khandahar police outpost and held protest.

The protestors also alleged that a police officer assaulted a youth of the agitating community, after which they blocked Bareilly-Kanpur highway.

Later, senior district administration officials and police officers reached the spot and pacified protesters.
