Panjab University today said it will confer honorary degrees on (Honoris Causa) on senior BJP leader and Lok Sabha MP Murli Manohar Joshi, noted physicist Narinder Singh Kapany, geneticist Prof Gurdev Singh Khush and Supreme Court Judge Justice Jagdish Singh Khehar.
The Chandigarh Senate of PU has approved conferring D.Litt (Doctor of Letters) on Joshi, D.Sc (Doctor of Science) on Kapany and Khush and FRS (Fellow of Royal Society) and Doctor of Laws on Khehar, a PU release said.
One of the oldest universities in India, PU initiated at Lahore (now in Pakistan) in 1882 and was relocated at Chandigarh in 1956.
