Puducherry Govt doubles pre-natal assistance to SC women

The financial assistance given to pregnant and lactating Scheduled Caste women in the union territory has been doubled to Rs 2,000 per month.

The hike would come into force retrospectively from April last year, a release from the Department of Adi Dravidar Welfare said today.

Under the pre and post-natal assistance scheme, implemented by the department, a monthly assistance of Rs 2,000 would be given to expecting women for three months prior to the scheduled month of delivery and to the lactating mothers for three months after delivery.
