Puducherry Traders Welfare Board formed

Chief Minister N Rangasamy today announced formation of a Traders Welfare Board under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary to the Administration.
Stating that traders and businessmen in Puducherry had been contributing to the State Exchequer through commercial taxes a hefty revenue he said that during the current fiscal (2015-2016) as much as Rs 1541 crore had been netted under the commercial taxes so far.
He said that the government had earmarked a 38 acre site in neighbouring Mettupalayam for an IT park and the smart city sanctioned for Puducherry had also been proposed to be set up on an extent of 850 acre site in Sedarapet which is a hub of activities.
