Punjab BJP demands withdrawal of five per cent VAT on sugar

"The levy of five per cent VAT on sugar must be immediately withdrawn by the state government," BJP MLA Manoranjan Kalia said during a party meeting held here.

Besides this, there should be no VAT on textile and flour and the VAT on pulses should be retained to one per cent and not hiked to four per cent as proposed by the state government, Kalia said.
