The Punjab Government has announced that it constituted a departmental committee to encourage farmers to opt for subsidiary occupations and ensure free insurance for the livestock.
Animal Husbandary and Dairy Development Minister Gulzar Sing Ranike said that a policy would be chalked out by this committee for the free insurance of the livestock.
He said that the state government will launch a massive campaign to generate awareness among the farmers about the various animal welfare schemes.
The minister, according to an official release, said that the camps have also being conducted at the village level for generating awareness among the peasantry.
