Punjab govt raises e-way bill exemption limit to Rs 1 lakh

In a major relief to traders and transporters, the Punjab government has raised the exemption limit of e-way bill within the state from Rs 50,000 to Rs 1 lakh, an official said Thursday.
"A transporter now can take goods up to the value of Rs 1 lakh within the state for delivery without having e-way bill," the official said.
The decision was taken on the pattern of the Maharashtra government which had also raised the e-way bill limit.
Under the existing system, a trader has to upload the details of every sale involving goods valued above Rs 50,000.
Under the Goods and Services Tax (GST) rules, ferrying goods worth over Rs 50,000 within a state requires securing an electronic-way challan (e-way bill) through prior online registration of the consignment.
