PWD begins desilting of Athoor Main channel in DINDIGUL

The PWD has started desilting of the Athoor main channel that irrigates more than 800 acres of irrigtion land.

The desilting work of the 6.5 km channel had been taken up jointly by the PWD and Athoor Pattadhar Association at an estimated cost of Rs 6.8 lakh under the MGNREG scheme.

With accumulation of silt and rapid growth of weeds and seemai karuvelam, flow in the channel was poor.
