Rajnath Singh meets Sangma's family in Shillong

Home Minister Rajnath Singh today met the family members of P A Sangma, who passed away recently, and expressed his deep condolences over the demise of the former Lok Sabha Speaker.

During the 20-minute meeting at Sangma's family home here, Singh spoke to the leader's wife Sorodini, sons James and Conrad and expressed his deep respect for the former Speaker, who had made a mark in national politics.

The Home Minister recalled his long association with P A Sangma and said that he was an affable leader, who had friends across the political spectrum.

Sangma died in New Delhi following a massive heart attack on March 4.
 

The Home Minister is in Shillong to attend the raising day function of country's oldest paramilitary force Assam Rifles.
