Both the units of Vallur thermal power project achieved record generation of 24.09 million units of electricity on January 24.
The project was executed by NTPC and Tamil Nadu Energy Company Ltd (NTECL).
Though the units registered record power generation individually, this is for the first time that both units achieved the feat on January 24, a statement said.

The first unit of 500 MW was commissioned on March 9 2012 and the second on February 26, 2013. "The third unit is expected to be commissioned in the near future", it said.
Tamil Nadu is the major beneficiary of power generated from this facility while some of it is supplied to Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala, Puducherry, the release said.
