Registry clerk held on graft charge

A registry clerk was arrested by the vigilance sleuths on graft charge from his office at Rajauli block in Bihar's Nawada district today, official sources said.

Acting on a tip off, the sleuths laid a trap and arrested the clerk Md. Qaium Ansari from his office soon after he took a bribe of Rs 5,000 from one Shambhu Mishra, sources said.

The tainted clerk had demanded the bribe for completing formalities related to purchase of land by Mishra, a native of Hardiya village under Rajauli police station area, they said.

Ansari was being brought to Patna for interrogation before production before a vigilance court for judicial remand, they added.
