Report into Chennai building collapse submitted to Jaya

As many as 61 persons were killed and 27 injured when the under construction 11-storeyed building collapsed on June 28

The one-man inquiry commission appointed by the Tamil Nadu government to probe the building collapse near here which left 61 persons dead, submitted its report to Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa today.

Justice (retd) R Reghupathy submitted his report to the Chief Minister at the Secretariat, the government said in a release.

Jayalalithaa had announced constituting the inquiry commission on July 3, saying it will probe the circumstances leading to the collapse of the under-construction 11 storeyed building at suburban Moulivakkam.

She had said that the Commission would find out whose ignorant attitude had resulted in such a mishap that left many workers dead and others injured and decide on fixing those responsible for it, adding her government would take further action based on the commission's report.
 

As many as 61 persons were killed and 27 injured when the under construction 11-storeyed building collapsed on June 28, prompting a massive rescue operation by various agencies, including National Disaster Response Force (NDRF).
