A male rhino was killed in a
fight with another male rhino in Dudhwa Tiger Reserve, a forest department officer said.
"Arjun about seven to eight year old fell out with another male rhino Ragghu a few days back," Deputy Director, DTR V K Singh said.
The incident happened at the rhino rehabilitation area in the Reserve.
Singh said that Ragghu proved to be dominant causing serious internal injuries to Arjun between its hind two legs in the mating conflict.
He said attempts were made to treat injured Arjun but yesterday afternoon Arjun collapsed and finally succumbed to his injuries.
"A panel of veterinary doctors was formed to carry out postmortem in the presence of DTR and WTI officials," he said.
