Chana prices climbed 0.41 per cent to Rs 4,875 per quintal in futures trading today after traders strengthened their positions triggered by pick up in demand in the spot market.
At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, chana for delivery in January month was trading higher by Rs 20, or 0.41 per cent to Rs 4,875 per quintal with an open interest of 6,590 lots.
On similar lines, the commodity for delivery in far-month April contracts edged up by Rs 3, or 0.07 per cent to Rs 4,434 per quintal in 20,860 lots.

Analysts attributed the rise in chana prices to pick up in demand in the spot market against restricted supplies from producing regions.
They said, however, a slew of measures announced by the government to check rising prices and improved supplies, capped the rise.
