"Mainak kept asking me to pen a lyric for his film. And I could not turn down his words. He had briefed me about the story and explained the situation.
"I scribbled a few lines later which he said will be used in the film. I liked the way he handled his subject," Rituparno told PTI.
The ace director said he would not have done it had the request not come from Mainak who had been associated with two films in which Ghosh faced the camera.
On Ghosh's lyric 'Ami Jodi Bhir Hoye jai (If I become the crowd)' which has been sung by Ishita in the film, Mainak said, "A sensitive person like Ritu-da could make more value-addition to the lyrics of Maach Misti 'n More."
In Kaushik Ganguly's 'Ar Ekti Premer Galpo' (2010) Mainak was an assistant director while he was the editor of 'Memories in March' (2011) by Sanjoy Nag.

Rituparno composed seven songs for 'Memories in March' and essayed the lead role of a gay ad agency director in the critically acclaimed movie, also starring Dipti Naval.
'Hemlock Society' and 'Autograph' director Srijit Mukherjee also composed a lyric for Mainak's film.
Neel Dutt, music director of national award winner 'Ranjana Ami Aaar Asbo Na', had has lent his voice to a song in 'Maach Misti 'n More' besides doing music.
"The lyrics by everybody -- Rituda, Srijit or others -- were fresh in approach drawing imageries," Neel said about the music, unveiled at a function here yesterday.
Starring Raima Sen and Parambrata Chatterjee, 'Maach Misti 'n More', revolves around the lives of three brothers, who are on an expedition of love and self-discovery.
It is a joint production of Mojo Productions and Tripod Entertainment.
