The RLD on Saturday held a unique demonstration against the price hike of domestic cooking gas refills by preparing food using firewood at one of the busiest intersections of the town.

The district wing of the Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) gathered at the Bhuteshwar crossing, one of the busiest in Mathura, and cooked food on makeshift earthen stoves.

The price for refilling LPG in cylinders has shot up from Rs 450 (in 2014) to Rs 850... No efforts are being made to control them by BJP led Union government," Tarachand Goswami, coordinator of mahanagar unit of RLD said.

The beneficiaries of Ujjwala scheme were finding it difficult to get their LPG cylinders refilled, he claimed.

Senior party leader Anu Sharma, leading a group of women, said the prices of other essential commodities like mustard oil, flour, turmeric etc. were rising as well making it extremely difficult to run the household.
