Robbers loot ornaments worth over Rs 2 lakh

Four men allegedly robbed ornaments worth over Rs 2 lakh from a house in Janipur village under kotwali Aliganj, police said today.

The incident took place on the intervening night of August 24-25, when Bantu, a resident of the village, along with three others entered the house of one Suresh and stole the ornaments after breaking open the almirah, police said.

When the family, which was in the house, resisted, the accused looted the gold necklace and earrings which a woman was wearing and escaped with the booty, they added.

An FIR was lodged yesterday, police said, adding, no arrests have been made so far.
