Rousseff not barred from public office despite impeachment

Brazil's Senate today voted not to bar Dilma Rousseff from holding public office in the future despite stripping her of the presidency at her impeachment trial.
After the vote to impeach her, senators in a second vote fell short of the two-thirds majority required to bar her from office for eight years, with just 42 of the 81 members backing the move.
