Rowdy killed in 'encounter'

A 'notorious' rowdy was shot dead in an alleged encounter near Suddhamalli in the district, police said today.

Kittappa, who was involved in more than 30 criminal cases including murder, tried to attack a sub-inspector with a sickle.

He also hurled petrol bombs at the policemen, who then fired retaliatory shot following which he died, they said.
