Rs 2,000 crore to be allocated for rehabilitation: AP minister

Andhra Pradesh Minister for Irrigation Devineni Umamaheswara Rao today said here that AP government plans to allocate Rs 2,000 crore for rehabilitation of those displaced by the Polavaram Irrigation Project.

Rao was interacting with reporters in his office after an announcement by the AP Chief Minister's office on Wednesday that he was appointed as the state irrigation minister.

On the occassion, he said that under Chandrababu Naidu's leadership, the government of Andhra Pradesh is committed to complete the Polavaram irrigation project and would take all possible support and co-ordination from neighbouring states to complete the project.

The minister said that after the first cabinet meeting at Visakhapatnam on Thursday, he would review all irrigation projects.
 

He also said that his governemnt is committed to the completion of all pending irrigation projects in the state, to provide irrigation water to each and every acre of land.
