Liquor worth Rs 1.25 lakh and Rs 2.55 crore in cash have been seized in poll-bound Haryana by surveillance teams appointed by the Election Commission.
The seizures were made after the schedule for the Assembly polls in the state were announced last month, Haryana Chief Electoral Officer Shrikant Walgad said in a statement today.
He said 50,000 personnels of Haryana Police, Central Reserve Police Force and Home Guards have been deployed to ensure peaceful polling on October 15 in all the 90 constituencies.
The government has ordered closure of all liquor vends in the state on October 14 and 15, he said.
