Rs 27 lakh hawala money seized

A Bengaluru-based man was arrested today for allegedly possessing hawala money to the tune of Rs 27 lakh onboard a bus in neighbouring Wayanad district, police said.

The cash was seized from the bus coming here during a routine vehicle screening by a team led by DSP Premkumar at Muthanga checkpost on Kerala-Karnataka border.

The man had kept the cash hidden in a jacket, police added.
