Gold worth Rs 31 lakh was seized by customs officials from a passenger who arrived at the Cochin International Airport Limited (CIAL) here today from Muscat, a senior customs official said.
The man had arrived by an Oman Airways flight and was interecpted as he went through the green channel. A search found that he was carrying 998.50 grams of gold, worth Rs 31 lakh, Customs Commissioner Sumit Kumar said.
He said the gold was concealed within the frames of four umbrellas
Intelligence officers are keeping a tight vigil on the movements of suspected passengers in and out of the Airport, he said.
