Members of the ruling and the opposition parties, during the question hour of the Budget session, today demanded amendment to the land policy for setting up 132 kV and 220 kV grid sub-stations (GSS).

Amid a series of questions, Minister of State for Energy Pushpendra Singh assured that land rules will not be a hurdle in establishing grid sub-stations in the state.

Informing the House of the power problems in his constituency, BJP MLA Shriram Bhinchar demanded 220 kV GSS instead of 132 kV GSS.

To the MLA's demand, Singh said sub-stations are upgraded as per rules and regulations of the Rajasthan Electricity Regulatory Commission and appropriate action will be taken after review.

Leader of the Opposition Rameshwar Dudi and Congress MLA Pradhuman Singh raised land availability issues for setting up of GSS.

"Under the current land rules, setting up 220 KV GSS is not possible in Eastern Rajasthan," Rameshwar said.

Replying to the supplementary question, the Minister said land issues has not affected setting up of grid sub-stations and no matter related to land availability for establishing the same is pending with the department.
