The rupee today recovered marginally by 6 paise to 55.35 against dollar at the Interbank Foreign Exchange on fresh selling of the US currency by exporters.

Strengthening of the euro against the dollar in overseas market and a higher opening in the domestic equity market supported the rupee, dealers said.

The rupee had lost 30 paise to close at nearly six-month low of 55.41 in the previous session due to sustained dollar demand from importers and weak local equities.

The BSE benchmark Sensex rose by 90.93 points, or 0.45 per cent, to 20,202.54 in early trade today.
