Punjab Governor Shivraj V Patil today administered the oath of office to the newly appointed Chief Information Commissioner Sarwan Singh Channy in a brief ceremony at Raj Bhavan here.
Channy held various important key positions in the Punjab government including Principal Secretary Home, NRI Affairs, Financial commissioner Appeals, MD Markfed and Deputy Commissioner Ludhiana, an official spokesman said.
Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal, Speaker Punjab Vidhan Sabha Charanjit Singh Atwal, Cabinet Ministers Bikram Singh Majithia, Sikandar Singh Maluka, Ajit Singh Kohar and Dr Daljit Singh Cheema among others were also present on the occasion.
Former Chief Information Commissioner R I Singh, all the Information Commissioners, Chief Commissioner Punjab Right to Service Commission S C Agrawal, former Chief secretary Rajan Kashyap, galaxy of serving and former bureaucrats of state and central government also attended the oath taking ceremony, the spokesman said.
