National Scheduled Castes Commission member P M Kamalamma said here today that the commission had asked senior police officials to submit a report on cases filed by scheduled castes under the Prevention of Atrocities Act of 1989.

She made the statement while interacting with reporters here on Tuesday after a review meeting with Krishna district's senior officials including the district collector and Superintendent of Police about atrocities against scheduled castes.

On the occasion, she said that in some instances, police officials at the station level disposed of cases without investigating properly.

She asked police officials that they should take permission either from the court or senior officials before disposing of cases.

She also advised officials to provide financial support to victims and also provide either a government job or a monthly Rs 3,000 pension.

She advised the Andhra Pradesh state government to enhance the age limit for sanctioning loans from the Scheduled Caste Financial Corporation, from 45 years to 60 years.
