Scientist M Nair Rajeevan appointed Earth Sciences Secretary

Renowned Scientist M Nair Rajeevan was today appointed as Secretary, Ministry of Earth Sciences here.

54-year-old Rajeevan is presently Director, Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology in Pune.

His appointment as Earth Sciences Secretary has been approved by the Appointments Committee of Cabinet (ACC), an order issued by Department of Personnel and Training said, without mentioning his tenure.

In a relevant development, the ACC had on Thursday extended additional charge of the post assigned to Prof K VijayRaghavan, Secretary, Department of Biotechnology, for a further period of three months beyond November 30, 2015 or till appointment of a regular incumbent.
